Nepal worker minimum wage has been revised by government of Nepal. As per notice posted on official website this news was confirmed, and it has been implemented effective 26th June 2025. Nepal Raises Minimum Wage for Migrant Workers to UAE The Government of Nepal recently announced a landmark decision to increase the minimum monthly wage for migrant workers heading to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), raising the basic salary to 1,000 UAE dirhams (AED) for unskilled workers. This policy shift, announced in early June 2025 by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, marks a significant step towards safeguarding migrant workers from exploitation and ensuring fair compensation abroad. Nepal has a long history of labor migration, notably to Gulf countries like the UAE. With approximately 700,000 Nepalis currently employed in the UAE across sectors such as construction, hospitality, manufacturing, and domestic work, remittances have become a vital pillar of Nepal’s economy. However, disparities in wage levels—particularly among unskilled workers—created vulnerabilities. Before this change, many Nepali workers received as little as AED 800 per month, placing them in a precarious position . Recognizing this issue, Labour Minister Sharat Singh Bhandari, working closely with Nepal’s embassy in the UAE, decided to set enforceable minimum wage bands: Unskilled workers: AED 1,000 Semi-skilled workers: AED 1,200 Skilled workers: AED 1,500 Minimum wage as Food Allowance has been raised from AED 300 to AED 400.
